BASICS OF MMA TRAINING

In this article we are going to look at the elements of MMA training.
When training at MMA it is important to realize there are many factors that make a good MMA fighter. The main factors which you should be working on every time you train are: speed, stamina, strength, power, agility and flexibility. If you are serious about your training you will also include diet.
The MMA fighter must have a good feel for standup fighting, clinch ability and working on the ground.
In the standup fighting practice the student could cross train in a multiple array of disciplines including contact Karate, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Kung Fu and Boxing but in all of these certainly concentrate on punching and kicking.
Clinch fighting practice is an important part of MMA as it allows a fighter to reduce the effectiveness of an opponents kicks, punches, knees and elbows.
The best way to practice clinching is by learning how to wrestle, the more you practice the more adapt you will become at clinching.
Once the fight goes to ground then the art of BJJ comes into its own, a good MMA fighter will learn and practice how to use the mount positions also how to follow up with submissions.
